Congressman Fry, President Trump Deliver $10.8 Million in Funding for South Carolina’s Seventh District

WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Trump has signed the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026 and the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026 into law. These bills included $10,872,512 of funding secured by Congressman Russell Fry for the Seventh District of South Carolina.

The funding will be distributed across nine key projects designed to enhance public safety and strengthen essential services in the Seventh District.

Chesterfield County will receive $3,943,978 for the Radio Improvement Project to modernize law enforcement communications, transitioning agencies to the Palmetto 800 Statewide radio network and improving coordination across over 800 square miles of rural territory.

The City of Florence will receive $2,250,000 for the Pee Dee Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant to increase capacity, improve redundancy, and maintain water supply during severe weather, ensuring hospitals and critical infrastructure continue operating during emergencies.

Francis Marion University will receive $754,500 for Campus Police security improvements, updating communications and surveillance systems to protect students, faculty, and the surrounding community.

The City of Hartsville Police Department will receive $360,106 for equipment and vehicles, including new cruisers, radar systems, and public safety tools, modernizing operations and enhancing officer readiness.

Horry County will receive $523,740 for enhancing emergency communications among coastal partners to connect CAD systems across multiple counties, improving response times and interagency coordination for first responders.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office will receive $868,040 for technology and equipment upgrades to modernize records, dispatch, and jail management systems, replace aging vehicles, and equip deputies with body cameras and other technology to enhance public safety.

The City of Marion Police Department will receive $105,000 for a gunshot detection system, enabling law enforcement to respond more quickly and accurately to gun violence incidents in the community.

Marion County will receive $567,148 for countywide TDMA capable radios, equipping deputies with secure, interoperable communications to improve response times and coordination during emergencies.

The Town of Pawleys Island will receive $1,500,000 for storm drainage improvements in the Bird’s Nest neighborhood to address chronic flooding, improve pedestrian access, and protect water quality in an ecologically sensitive coastal area.

“This funding is a major win for the Seventh District and a direct investment in public safety, infrastructure, and quality of life across our communities,” said Congressman Fry. “From modernizing law enforcement communications and equipment to improving water infrastructure, these projects meet real needs on the ground. I’m grateful to President Trump for signing these bills into law and proud to have worked to secure resources that will keep our communities safer, more resilient, and better prepared for the future.”

Previously, Congressman Fry secured $2.65 million in federal funding for two critical public safety projects in South Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District — including $2,487,375 million for the Cheraw Fire Station Replacement Project and $150,000 for upgrades to the Lake View Police Department.
